Merrifield Panthers Basketball held their inaugural singlet presentation on Wednesday 17th July at the Craigieburn Leisure Centre. It was a landmark occasion for the club which formed this season under the newly formed Merrifield Panthers Sporting Assoc. Inc.

The night was attended by players, parents, coaches and team managers of the 3 teams. Under 10 Girls, Under 10 Boys and Under 12 Boys.The night was hosted by Merrifield Panthers President Glenn Herring and attended by Craigieburn Basketball Life Member and Special Projects administrator Colin Downing as well as Craigieburn Basketball Junior Domestic Manager – Jodie Van Der Velden. Merrifield is pleased to be a major supporter of the Merrifield Panthers  and are thrilled to see such success in their first year.

This club would not be possible without the players and parents support. Their coaches Hayley and Aaron are experienced basketball people who have children playing in the team, and team managers Trudy, Lisa and Chris are fantastic supporters of the club. They are all volunteers who offer their time each week to ensure that everything runs smoothly. There are several other parents who get involved each week to support the teams at training and scoring such as Luke, Alok, Cheryl, Ben and Lei just to mention a few.

With numerous players, coaches and team managers coming from or having links to Merrifield, the Panthers are becoming are truly successful local venture which is providing opportunities for local Merrifield residents to be a part of their own basketball club.

And they are only just beginning! Next season they plan to launch more teams in more age groups ranging from under 8 through to under 14. Registrations for these new teams are open now and spots are filling fast. Games are on Saturday morning and training is on Monday and Wednesday nights.
