Merrifield Recreation Reserve and dog park is now open!
We are very pleased and excited to announce that the brand new $30 million Merrifield Recreation Reserve is now open to the public!
Merrifield Recreation Reserve adds to the growing education and community hub at the centrepiece of the Merrifield community – making it even easier for residents to live a healthy and active lifestyle!
Working alongside Hume City Council, we have curated an area for the community to engage – be it through sport and recreation, play, relaxation … or pets! We are proud to have delivered a carefully considered and well-designed space that caters for a wide variety of users and importantly responds to local community needs.
The Merrifield Dog Park located within the reserve was officially opened on Friday 20th May 2022 by the The Hon. Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, along with the fabulous ‘Dogs of Merrifield’ photography exhibition.
With 1 in 2 Merrifield households dog-owners, we know how many of you will enjoy the amazing features within the brand new 5,000 square metre off-leash dog park – conveniently located at the southern end of the Merrifield Recreation Reserve (corner of Blackmore Rd and Maystone Drive). We worked closely with Hume City Council and Member for Yuroke The Hon. Ros Spence to secure a $275,000 State Government Grant towards delivery of the dog park.
